Welcome to my country! Welcome to my country - let me introduce you round When they get drunk they get a little wild but in their hearts and minds they’re fairly docile They ain’t got no manners any more and they ain’t got no respect None of this even matters anyway: no effect Welcome to my country - you’re gonna fit right in Looking for a party and looking for a fight and paying twice the price you should pay for everything You ain’t got no future any more but you got fistfuls of the past None of it even matters any more at last

Sunrise (I think of you) Early in the morning when the sun shines in the trees The leaves upon the branches start shaking in the breeze and then I think of you And then I think of you I am yours and you are mine Stay that way ’til the end of time I am yours and you are mine Together we’ll make the sun shine Sunrise in your eyes Sunshine in your smile Sunrise, sunset And I ain’t getting tired yet of loving you I’m loving you Early in the evening when the sun begins to set Sunshine shimmers golden in the branches’ silhouette and then I think of you And then I think of you Sunrise in your eyes Sunshine in your smile Sunrise, sunset How gladly I’m caught in your net I’m loving you I’m loving you

If only 03:11
If only We’ve been talking for so long I don’t know what’s so wrong in what we’re saying Except for what we’re saying I been feeling pretty strong I don’t know how to get along but I am doing my best It’s the best that I can do If only things were a little bit easier But maybe then they’d be too easy Doesn’t matter what they say The things they live for make no sense anyway They don’t know what they are talking - they don’t know what they’re talking about I’m no idiot, I’m no fool I know the difference I know the rules but I can’t take their advice because it’s useless I’ll figure this thing out If only things were a little bit easier But maybe then they’d be too easy

Of turning corners (Winter Version) Of turning corners And turning my back on you Things that I thought at you behind a smile Your look it carries every little inch of us Shows every angle on this thing that we have I have to get away I know just what it’s worth The blue way you soothe my hurt Cocooned in the morning with you We are wrapped in sunlight But I could lose years here Never even thinking twice What was it I wanted from life Before all of this I have to get away from this thing that we have

Lord help me, I am lost Lord help me Lord help me I am lost Lord tell me, tell me who’s the boss Walking on and I’m working on Walking on and I’m talking out of turn Turn it on so I can’t turn off Turn it on and fill my cup up Count it up and then take it back Count it up and then take it back again There’s no use in that, my friend Lord help me, help me I am lost

Song to the river This is a song to the rushing wind These are my words to the river The bridges are burning over the water The water is rising around her The sirens are calling me down to the water The noise it is white it is old Parasites crawling all over my shoulder The water is rising around her Seek that you may find Find what you don’t wish to see Lose what you love in the river Watch it wash out to the sea Here are my tears for the river The river does not need my tears The sirens are calling me down to the riverbank There I will sing to my knees Seek that you may find Find what you don’t wish to see Love what you lose in the river Watch it wash out to the sea

The climb 04:47
The climb I stood on the ledge and knocked on the window pane You woke and you laughed, you called me insane I played through the night They called on the telephone I said it isn’t right Told them to leave us alone So much work - so little time Ye of little faith: you don’t get to climb Under the trees or over the highway I hear us listening: I like it better that way Raspy voice under the clear blue sky Drove so far so fast - somehow we passed ourselves by So much work - so little time Ye of little faith: you don’t get to climb I stood on the ledge and knocked on the window pane You woke and you laughed, you called my name I played through the night They called on the telephone I said it ain’t right Told them to leave us alone

By the time I get to Denver By the time I get to Denver they will see my tightened lips They will see my changed expression and the uselessness of hips By the time I get to Denver: 29 to 32 The chapter ends and starts again and once again I’m thinking far beyond the point of you And your fine disease seems to be a retribution And you’re begging on your knees for a cheap and fast solution for your weekend recklessness and your weakened constitution, boy

So long, Mary-Jane So long Mary-Jane, you’ll be on my mind We took the train and passed the time Did everything look the same to you, Mary-Jane? Come on Mary-Jane, let me hear you laugh I don’t know what to think half the time Thinking’s such a crime at a time like this, Mary-Jane Lie down Mary-Jane and take the time with me I’ll take away your pain - you’ll do the same for me And it means just the same to me as you, Mary-Jane Oh come on Mary-Jane, let’s just get away They don’t care about us at all, no matter what they say Yeh, well they don’t matter to us anyway, Mary-Jane

The Road Not Travelled Sat outside the terminal: how could they do that at all? How could they not look back and know it was the end of it all? Sunset on the concrete wall Sitting outside to stall for time One more photograph, then get on the airline I tried to write a song called “The Road Not Travelled” About a man who settled down And how his mind unraveled When the past came back to meet him As an old forgotten friend Who’d taken the other road: The Road Not Travelled I used to dream back then I was racing down a steep mountain Moving hundred miles an hour Even if I should have stopped I didn’t know how In this song the hour was late And the man was sitting Alone by the fire grate His wife and daughter were sleeping The old friend came knocking, thinking About the roots that he had not grown And the wife and daughter woke As the past came a-calling I used to think back then I was racing full speed headlong Into a solid brick wall I could not stop at all The world was wide and he had crossed it Growing tired of experience And as the wife and daughter listened To the stories he was telling them The daughters eyes ablaze with wonder And tears on the wife’s cheeks Filled with longing, quietly weeping For The Road Not Travelled Sat outside the terminal: how could they do that at all? How could they not look back and know it was the end of it all?
